Shoes Shoes Shoes

As seen below in my spring/summer wishlist I have been on the search for platform sandals with wood heels. I particularly fell in love with these Dolce Vita ones at Urban Outfitters but the price tag was way out of my range (hey, I'm in college) not to mention... my Go Green New Clothes/Accessories Ban. (But I shouldn't forget to mention Urban Outfitters is also selling my Swedish Hasbeen wishlist shoe which Topshop was only selling in the UK)

Okay, so new wooden platform sandals (sans wedge!) are out, where to next? Why Etsy of course. Wooden platforms were definitely a thing of the 60's and 70's so there is bound to be an abundance of them. And I am correct, there are, observe:

(Those silver ones speak to me especially as I am strong believe that metallics double as neutrals)

The problem with all these shoes is that they are all way too small for me, I'm a size 9. For some reason size 9 vintage shoes are hard to come by, I'm not sure why.

Lamenting my lack of awesome summertime sandals I went to Goodwill (for the second time this week) intent on snatching up more colorful ribbed tanks, a summer staple that is usually already pretty cheap in the stores but really unbeatable at $2 a shirt. I did my usual sweep of the apparel sections, try on, and then hit accessories starting with shoes.

I love my Goodwill, someone reviewed it and said it's awesome because it's "not picked over by a bunch of hipsters," true. I have found so many great things at that place and if you go at dinner time it's empty and you're free to roam as you please. HOWEVER... the shoes are seriously lacking. On occasion you can find some discarded cowboy boots but those things have likely actually been used to heard cattle so I wouldn't even go there. Otherwise, just a lot of plastic. Not yesterday though.

It was as if someone read my mind and decided to grant my wishes. I'm not big on religion but maybe some kind of a sneaky genie!

Helllllllo, perfection!

They are exactly what I was looking for! Leather! Wood! Heel! Strap! Neutral! Perfect!

excited to wear them tomorrow.

Finds

Goodwill Friday and I acquired this crochet lace top. My boyfriend ridiculed it but I was inspired by the likes of these:

source, source, source, and source respectively.

Looking forward to wearing it with cutoffs and saltwater sandals, over a bikini, over a dress belted, and with wedges and white jeans.

Also scored four metal canisters in this delightful blue/green/yellow paisley for our kitchen.

We are moving to a new house at the end of May with an extremely large kitchen, including more counter space and probably three times the cabinet space. We're really excited because it's a 3-bedroom apartment in a house built in the 20's (that was added on to over the years to make enough house for seven separate apartments) but we will be living in the original part of the house with the original (ORIGINAL) beautiful fire place and built-ins. We are so very excited. Not to mention the rent is cheaper than what we're paying now.

Expect pictures in June sometime of our lovely abode.

Spring Wants

I have been waking up to sun for the last few days and slowly by surely the temperatures are rising, making me a happy girl. I find myself lusting after some very springy pieces however I need to cool it down because I am on a new-clothes ban. (Thrift store is okay, as long as something is donated to the thrift store too).

Wood grain Chuck sunglasses - great neutral color with an unexpected "texture"

Metallic Brocade Chiffon Scallop Dress I love the scallops on this dress, they give it another dimension and how can you go wrong with upcycled H&M?

Boat and tote bag such a throw-it-in-the-bag kind of a bad, it's why I love totes

Peep toe slingback clogs Topshop and Swedishasbeens came together and made beautiful babies, too bad these are only sold in the UK!

Yayoi Forest Knot Studs I'm actually considering purchasing these, they are the perfect balance of everyday-wearable and subtle intrigue. I bet you would get compliments on these every day

Medium leather carry-all pouch You could put this IN the tote so that when you don't want to fish around for your wallet and keys, they're in there! Or just carry this awesome block of color around with you!

Essie polish in Clam Bake and Tart Deco I've been on the hunt for a red-orange blend and I LOVE the way Essie applies. Can't get enough coral these days either

Laughing gull one-piece Who is up for some funky tan lines while making your own pale self look instantly tanner by comparison to this fresh white suit? ME!

My goal is to start putting more awesome thrifting purchases on this blog, soon. Maybe starting with a few personal favorites that I've had for awhile.

Wedding Inspiration Out of Nowhere

I'm certainly not getting married any time soon but wedding planning speaks to my creative soul and lately I've been reading wedding blogs. I never did plan my dream wedding as a little girl so I figure why not gather inspiration now?

What a creative idea to use a beloved picture book as a guest book! That way it is two times as awesome to read through at a later date. (source)

How lovely! These lacy/flowery dresses perfect for the reception maybe with colorful flats for optimum dancing comfort. (source)

I most certainly want lilacs at my future wedding. (source)

I love how the rainbow steamers swoop down and are at varying angles and against all that white they are the perfect pop. (source)

Lavender buds don't have the same heft as rice but this idea smells so nice.

I'm not sure what one (two) do with photos of themselves like this (hang in your foyer???) but it sure is romantic. (source)

What better way to outfit a gaggle of girls for a wedding than in tutus, heart t-shirts and sneakers. The poor little boy still had to don a full tux though, it appears! (source)

I want tiers in my dress, I do believe. (source, source, source, source)

ASOS for Color Blocking

Spring is for color and ASOS doesn't fall short of reminding us. I love the unexpected two-tone color blocking + leather accessories, completely inspiring. Keep silhouettes simple and let the color do the talking.
